Day 28: 0530 Yoga
The “0″ stands for, “Oh my God it’s early…” (thank you Robin Williams). I managed to get up at 5:30 this morning and do Yoga. That was probably the best workout with which to start the early routine. Calm, relaxing and I don’t want to kill myself like after plyo
. I misjudged the start time a little, or rather hit snooze too many times, and had to cut off the last 20 minutes or so. I still got an hour and 20 minute workout which is awesome.
I never realize how much I miss working out in the mornings until I do it a few times. After I broke my foot, I pretty much stopped working out completely. I went from early-morning running 4 – 5 days a week to nothing for 5 weeks straight. It was hard to stop, but even harder to get going again. I’ve got a friend that’s going through a really rough time right now on the home front. He wasn’t getting sleep, he wasn’t eating. He woke up at 5:00 one morning and said, “I gotta do something; think I’ll walk the dog”.
One morning turned into two, two turned into three. Now he’s running a few miles every morning. The morning exercise totally changed his attitude towards his situation. I had the same experience when I started running in the mornings last year. Last time I was motivated by the challenge, this time I was motivated by my friend. Thanks, J. – I owe you.
