Day 29-33: It has begun
I did my shoulder and arms workout on Friday, just like I was supposed to. Saturday was yard-work. Sunday was legs and back. Monday was dinner with Mikey. Tuesday was off in preparation for today: prep for running season in Texas has begun.
I went for my first run since April of this year and my first real run since coming off the broken foot from my marathon. I went out and did an easy 4 miles at 6:00 this morning. It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I ran pretty well considering I haven’t run a step in 4 months. The only problem was the weather; it was freakin’ miserable – 80 degrees and 95% humidity. I literally wrung out my dry-fit shirt when I got done. My legs are a little sore which is to be expected after the first run of the season. I’m going to take tomorrow off since my Avonex shot is tonight, but I’m planning to run Friday morning before we start to move.
I’m undecided on this year’s running events. I honestly don’t feel like training for a full marathon at this point. Right now I’m leaning towards doing 3 or 4 half-marathons instead of one full one. I’m positive I’ll do another full, just not sure it’s going to happen this season. I’m going to train for a full with the same group as last year. It’s a great group and if I decide to do the full part-way through, I won’t be behind on the training.
I only have a week before training starts (8/22), so I need to get going with the base mileage ASAP. I just hope I’m not too beat up this weekend with all the packing and moving to get some more miles under my belly..err…belt.
