Glad that’s over

0jeff20th Aug 2009exercise, projects,

The last 7 days have been interesting to say the least.  We’re building a new house, but our current, soon to be old, house sold in just 3 1/2 weeks on the market.  I’m not complaining; I’d much rather have our house sold than be worrying about two mortgage payments.  The hard part is that our new house won’t be ready until November so we had to move into an apartment until then.

Moving actually wasn’t too bad, but squeezing a house with a two-car garage into an apartment with no garage is no small feat.  We had a lot of help from family and friends to get everything in.  We’ve also got some of our stuff stored at our friends houses until the new place is ready.

All of the activity on the home front has severely interfered with my exercise routine.  I haven’t worked out since my last post.  The running group I trained with last year starts up on Saturday.  That begins 6 months of running at least 4 days a week.  I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to work strength training into the running this year.  I think I’ll do the P90x stretch routine when I get home from long runs on the weekend.  Last year I had some IT-band and hip issues on and off during the season.  Getting into a good stretch routine will really help with that.

During the week, I think the P90x yoga workout would be good early in the week on Monday or Tuesday.  It’s no-impact which will be good considering the pounding running gives.  It will also be great for the core which will help me to run more efficiently with better form.  Ultimately that makes things easier.

I’ll update again after our run on Saturday morning.
